The San Diego City Amateur typically takes place in the summer at Torrey Pines Golf Course. The tournament is run entirely by the pro-shop golf professionals at Torrey Pines. All rounds are a shotgun start, mornings at 7:00am and afternoons at 1:00pm.

This past year, the Men's Open handicapped flights included 60 players, which represented an increase of 15 players with respect to previous years. The Men's Championship flight included 120 players. In the Men's Senior division there was 30 players per handicapped flight and 52 in the Championship flight. In all cases, Men's Open and Senior flights, there was a 36-hole cut.

The Women's divisions had no cut, and their final round took place on Saturday, June 14th.
