Cost of the Volunteer Pakackage is $40.00 The last time the LPGA hosted a San Diego golf event was back in 1993 at Stardust Country Club. More “seasoned” golfers in San Diego will remember the Stardust Country Club is now the redeveloped 27-hole Riverwalk Golf Course. The San Diego golf industry has been no stranger to hosting other LPGA events in the past. Rancho Bernardo Inn, La Jolla Country Club, San Luis Rey, Fairbanks Ranch, Whispering Palms (Morgan Run Resort), Bernardo Heights Country Club and StoneRidge Country Club have all hosted LPGA events in the past. Even Torrey Pines South hosted a previous LPGA event back in 1983. For San Diego golf enthusiasts the Samsung World Championship format provides a unique opportunity to watch the world’s best women golfers…”up close and personal.” The Samsung World Championship at Torrey Pines will only host the top 20 women golfers in the world. With an extremely shortened and exclusive field, the competition will be intense! Although some of the LPGA’s newest stars, like Paula Creamer and Lorena Ochoa are sure to be present to compete, maybe, just maybe...this is the year that Michelle Wie finally “breaks-through” to silence her critics to provide spectators and a world-wide TV audience with a dramatic performance and the World Golf Championship she has long been expected to win? The Ladies will be competing in 10 twosomes so the competition and play will move fast and won’t require your whole day to enjoy. Perhaps they’ll be plenty of time for you to play one of San Diego’s best golf courses before or after enjoying the 2009 Samsung World Championship. This could be a great opportunity for a “San Diego Golf and Family Vacation?” With prices down and so much to do and experience in San Diego…the timing is perfect! For over 15 years San Diego Golf Reservations has been providing resident and visiting golfers with information, recommendations and COMPLIMENTARY tee time reservations at San Diego’s BEST 20 golf courses. So come to San Diego in September to watch the LPGA Ladies compete and experience “San Diego…America’s Finest City and a Great Golf Destination.” © |
