Torrey Pines Gets a New Name — And We Couldn’t Be More Excited
Big news for San Diego golf fans: the PGA TOUR event at Torrey Pines has a new title sponsor, a new name, and a very bright future. Starting in January 2027, the tournament will be called The Sentry, with Sentry Insurance stepping in as the new presenting sponsor.
If you’ve been a Torrey Pines regular — or if you’ve ever made the pilgrimage to watch world-class golf perched above the cliffs of La Jolla — you know this event is something special. It’s been part of the PGA TOUR calendar since 1952, and has been played at Torrey Pines for 60 consecutive years. That kind of history doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because the course is incredible, the city is incredible, and fans keep showing up year after year.
A Sponsor That’s All In
Sentry Insurance isn’t a newcomer to pro golf. They’ve been one of the PGA TOUR’s most committed partners for years, previously sponsoring the season-opening event in Maui. When that tournament couldn’t continue due to water and drought issues at Kapalua, Sentry didn’t walk away from the sport — they looked for a new home worthy of their investment. They found it here.

What to Expect in 2027
The inaugural Sentry at Torrey Pines is scheduled for January 25–30, 2027, with a Saturday finish. The tournament will be broadcast on CBS and Paramount+, Golf Channel, and PGA TOUR LIVE on ESPN+, putting San Diego’s most iconic course in front of a massive national audience.
Just to set the stage: Justin Rose won the final Farmers Insurance Open in January with a tournament-record 23-under 265 — a wire-to-wire performance that reminded everyone why this course produces memorable moments. Whoever steps up to defend that trophy under the Sentry banner in 2027 is going to have some serious expectations to meet.
